BUILDING PLANS / FIRE FIGHTING PLAN

Working Drawings are an integral part of the construction industry and the architect’s chief means of communication with the various levels of the authorities, clients and consultants. A comprehensive knowledge of the format and conventions of working drawings, as well as an overall awareness of its importance in practice is crucial. Project 1 requires :
- Identify and select a project designed from Studio 5
- Translate the selected building into a cemplete set of architectural working drawing (for submission to the authorities), utilising all the formats and conventions of working drawing as they applied in contemporary architectural practice
- Research and establish a basic understanding of statutory requirements from the authorities and fire safety guidelines and to implement the requirements into the project
- Research and establish a basic understanding of the structural system, building services, materials and other relevant technology and to apply the understanding into the project

OBJECTIVE
​
The objectives of this assignment are as follows:
1. To develop an awareness of the role of technical drawings through the production of full set floor plans, sections and elevations
2. To develop an understanding of technical drawing conventions and formats through application
3. To develop an awareness of the general nature, principles and procedures of law and legislation, including the Uniform Building By-laws (UBBL) and local fire regulations
4. To develop an awareness of construction requirement consistent with design and performance
